Windsurfing - Robby Swift @ Maui Jaws (Pe'ahi)
1 Feb 2013 - Maui, Hawaii
Robby Swift, world class professional windsurfer entering Jaws (Pe'ahi) the hard way....sometimes you just can't get a ride to your job.
The guys wrapped all their gear around each board, then worked their way down a steep, muddy trail...so steep the locals have ropes attached to the tree roots to help transit the trail. I know I appreciated them..it is a very difficult trail. Entry is across a boulder field...and when you think about it, this is where those bigs breakers from Jaws end up, so finding a sweet spot to swim out between sets was the big problem. While their boards are similar to surfboards, the sails and mast really make them unwieldy when trying to punch through the surf.
